2021 FDI Moot All Africa Regional Results and South Asia Regional Call for Arbitrators
25 August 2021
On 23 August 2021, Strathmore University edged out Kabarak University I (both Kenya) in the FDI Moot AAR final, winning the 2021 Wilmer Hale prize (USD1500). Kabarak II prevailed in the 3rd place match against Africa Nazarene University (also both Kenya). The quarterfinals included universities from Nigeria, South Africa, Tunisia, and Uganda.
Mr Robert Kaniu (ANU) will receive the Noël M Ferris Prize (USD500) sponsored on behalf of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers as the best advocate arguing at least two preliminary rounds. Ms Effie Okola Odhiambo (Strathmore) was adjudged the best advocate of the final (and was also the best advocate arguing all four preliminary rounds).
The FDI Moot’s South Asia Regional will begin on Friday (27-30 August 2021) and we are still looking for moot arbitrators (requisite 3 years PQE in international arbitration/international economic law). If you can help us, please register here: fdimoot.org/college/2020register.php. If you have previously arbitrated in the FDI Moot, you can just login with your email and password and indicate your availability for this year’s competition; if you have forgot your password, after one failed login attempt, you can request a password reset sent to your email.
