We are currently preparing a number of special features for our Transnational Dispute Management Journal:

We hereby invite all those with an interest in these subject to contribute articles. We are looking mainly for short comments on recent developments of broad interest. We would like, where possible, such comments to be backed-up by provision of in-depth notes and articles (which we will publish in our ‘knowledge bank') and primary legal and regulatory materials.

The Protection of Intellectual Property Rights through International Investments Agreements - Only a romance or true love?

This special issue will analyse the level of protection granted by International Investment Agreements (IIAs) in regard to Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs).

Proposals for papers should be submitted to the editors. This special issue will be edited by James Hosking and Markus Perkams, of Clifford Chance New York and Frankfurt, respectively.

The Notion of Investment - In Search of an Acceptable Definition

The recent arbitration awards where the notion of investment was determinative on the findings of jurisdiction call for new and wider reflections on the topic. The current practical importance of this topic also dictates the need to collect opinions already expressed, making access to them easier. The special issue on the notion of investment will be prepared by:

Interpretation of the notion of investment under: the ICSID convention; the ECT; the BITs; NAFTA; and national laws on foreign investment protection.
