Mr Campbell received his LLB from Edinburgh University in 1987 and his LLM from McGeorge School of Law in 1988. After working for Shakespeares Solicitors in Birmingham, England and Philips Petroleum Europe Africa (and a sabbatical teaching English and German in Spain) he was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1992. From 1993 to 1997 he was a research assistant at the University of Salzburg, Department of International Law (Professor Schreuer). Since then, as a non-practicing lawyer, he has focussed on legal research, education and training in the areas of public and private international law and comparative law. In 2007, he initiated the Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot (www.fdimoot.org), and since then issues of investor State arbitration have again played a larger role in his work.
