Developments in 2007
The number of international investment agreements (IIAs) continued to grow in 2007, but at a
slower rate compared to the previous years, with the slowdown mostly attributed to a decline in
new bilateral investment treaties (BITs). During the period, a marked variation in the number of
concluded IIAs was observed among regions.
