Michael Hwang
Profile
Michael Hwang was educated at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at Oxford University where he was a college scholar and prizewinner.
He began his legal career teaching law at the University of Sydney. He then joined Allen & Gledhill in Singapore, where he remained for over 30 years.
He now practises as an independent Barrister and Arbitrator.
In 1991-1992, he served as a Judicial Commissioner (Contract High Court Judge) of the Supreme Court of Singapore. From 2001-2003, he was a UN Compensation Commissioner in Geneva. He is on the panels of the PCA, ICSID and more than 20 national arbitration centres. He is also a member of the ICC Court, and has recently been appointed the Deputy Chief Justice of the Dubai International Financial Centre.

Michael Hwang has graciously given Transnational Dispute Management permission to make his book "Selected Essays on International Arbitration", which was launched in Singapore on 14 November 2013, available as a free download.
The book is a record of scholarship with insight into the important issues in international arbitration. This collection of essays, written by Mr. Hwang over the last decade (and updated this year), on a wide range of topics in international arbitration will undoubtedly enjoy broad appeal to past, present and future generations of students and practitioners.
