Monique Sasson initially qualified as an Italian Avvocato. She practiced at Chiomenti Studio Legale, where she represented major companies before Italian courts and arbitration panels. In 2000 she joined Herbert Smith and qualified as a solicitor (and then solicitor advocate), and acted in international arbitration cases as well as litigation matters. In 2006 she began her Ph.D. work at the University of Cambridge, where she is writing a doctoral thesis on the roles of municipal law and international law in investment treaty arbitration.
