Domenico Di Pietro is admitted to the Italian Bar and in England and Wales. Domenico has practiced International arbitration worldwide in jurisdictions as diverse as Italy, England, Japan, and the United States. He acted as Counsel in numerous commercial arbitrations, both ad hoc and administered by various arbitral institutions under a variety of substantive laws.
He is also active in the field of foreign investment arbitration having advised on and participated in arbitrations both under the ICSID Convention and ad hoc.
He has served as chairman, sole arbitrator and party-appointed arbitrator in several international disputes.
Domenico has experience in sport arbitration. He advises sport federations as well as national Olympic committees and has acted as counsel before the ad hoc Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the Athens and Beijing Olympics.
He is a former Fellow of New York University School of Law and was the inaugural lecturer for the international arbitration course at Roma Tre University. He is currently co-director of Roma Tre's Certificate in International Commercial and Investment Arbitration.
Domenico has authored numerous papers on international commercial arbitration and investment arbitration. Several of his writings have been cited by the leading courts in civil law and common law jurisdictions.
He is a founding member of ARBIT, the Italian Forum for Arbitration and ADR, and a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators, Corporation of London.
Domenico graduated in Law at University of Rome "La Sapienza" and obtained his LL.M from the University of London, Queen Mary, where he is an alumnus of the School of International Arbitration.
