Domenico Di Pietro is admitted to the Italian Bar and in England and Wales. Domenico has acted as Counsel in numerous commercial arbitrations, both ad hoc and administered by various arbitral institutions under a variety of substantive laws.
He is also active in the field of foreign investment arbitration having advised on and participated to arbitrations both under the ICSID Convention and ad hoc.
He has served as chairman, sole arbitrator and party-appointed arbitrator in several international disputes.
Domenico has experience in sport arbitration. He advises sport federations as well as national Olympic committees and has acted as counsel before the ad hoc Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the Athens and Beijing Olympics.
He lectures International Arbitration at University of Rome "Roma Tre" and is a Fellow of New York University School of Law. He is also in charge of International Arbitration at the LLM of the School of Economics University of Rome "La Sapienza".
Domenico has authored numerous papers on international commercial arbitration and investment arbitration. He is co-editor of Recognition and Enforcement of Arbitration Agreements and Foreign Arbitral Awards - The New York Convention in Practice (2008).
He is a founding member of ARBIT, the Italian Forum for Arbitration and ADR. He is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators, Corporation of London.
Domenico graduated in Law at University of Rome "La Sapienza" and obtained his LL.M from the University of London, Queen Mary College.
