Angeliki Lanara is an attorney at law and legal specialist in Chinese Law and Business Culture.
A legal practitioner in Greece (attorney at law with the Athens Bar), she has devoted a grand part of her studies and working experience to deeply enrich her knowledge on the Chinese legal system. Being attached to a Law Firm in Greece since 2009, cooperating with the Consulate General of Greece in Shanghai as well as participating in legal fora, legal associations, business discussions and projects with the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Greece as well as foreign chambers of commerce in China and Chinese authorities, she is familiar with the general Chinese social&legal framework focusing on the Chinese Corporate and Investment law as well as Chinese Arbitration law. Currently, she is a member of the Legal&Competition Working Group of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, Shanghai office.
Angeliki holds an LLB from the University of Athens, an LLM in International Business Law from the Queen Mary University of London and a Certificate degree specialising in Chinese Language and Business Culture from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, Confucius Institute for Business London. In February 2010, she was granted the Third place Award in the Annual Chinese Writing Competition organised by the Confucius Institute For Business London, LSE. She was also awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship for the academic year 2010-2011 in order to continue her legal studies in China as a General Scholar of the Chinese Government at Shanghai JiaoTong University (SJTU). In Shanghai, she graduated from the SJTU School of International Education as well as the SJTU Koguan Law School having obtained two University degrees in Chinese Language and Culture and Chinese Law respectively, while she has been attending BA studies in political science and history at Panteion University of Economic and Political Sciences in Athens. She is fluent in Greek, English, Chinese and French.
Her academic and professional interests mostly lie in the areas of International business and International commercial law. She is particularly keen on the regulatory aspects of international trade and on all the pertinent theory behind concepts such as commercial transactions and WTO, International Commercial Law, International Commercial and Comparative Arbitration as well as International trade and Investment Dispute Resolution. A further topic of study and practice for Angeliki is International Investment law focusing on ICSID jurisdiction and the legal framework of new generation BITs.
