Dr. Sirja-Leena Penttinen
Profile
Sirja-Leena Penttinen is an Associate Professor (tenured) in Law and Sustainability Transitions at the Faculty of Law, University of Lapland (Finland). Before this, she was the Assistant Director of the Tulane Center for Energy Law and an Adjunct Professor at Tulane University Law School (United States, 2018-2023). She has previously worked, for example, as a Legal Advisor at the Finnish Energy Authority and a Senior Researcher at UEF Law School (Finland).
She has published widely on different aspects of international and European energy law, with a specific focus on the implications of the sustainable energy transition to markets and investments. She regularly advises public authorities and international organisations on related matters. In addition to hydrogen, her current focus is on (critical) transition minerals, where she is leading several research projects.
