Tim Harkness is a litigation partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer US LLP who represents international clients in complex commercial litigation and advises them with regard to U.S.-based risk. His cases frequently involve allegations of fraud and breaches of contractual or fiduciary duties. Mr. Harkness has represented professional services and private equity firms, banks, manufacturers, and media companies in civil trials, multidistrict class action litigation, and commercial arbitrations in over fifteen states, in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts. He has handled international discovery issues relating to over twenty countries outside of the United States, including Malta, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, China, the Cayman Islands, and the United Kingdom. He has also represented clients before the Securities and Exchange Commission, federal grand juries, and Congress.
Mr. Harkness received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan, where he was Contributing Editor to the Law Review, and his B.A., cum laude, from Yale University.
