Benedetta Cappiello (Milan, 1985) is a lawyer in Milan and a Post-Doctoral Researcher in International Law at the Università degli Studi di Milano, Faculty of Law, where she graduated, cum laude, in 2011 with a thesis on Foreign Direct Investments in International Public and Private Law. Focus on the Afghanistan case. Since the PhD years, she has been working as teaching assistant in Public and Private International Law and in International Trade Law. She has been a visiting scholar at the University of Geneva (March 2013), at the Hague Academy of International Law (summer 2012) and she attended the International Academy for Arbitration Law in Paris (July 2011).
She worked in the legal office of the Permanent Representation of Italy to the European Union, in Brussels, where she assisted the first Counsellor of the Embassy. Later she moved to The Hague where she worked at the Chambers Unit of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, assisting the President Mr. A. Cassese.
