Professor Damien Geradin
Profile
Professor Geradin is the founding partner of EDGE Legal. He has been practicing EU competition law and IP law for over two decades during which he was a partner in two large international law firms.
Damien has been involved in a large number of European Commission cases, notably in proceedings against Qualcomm, Microsoft, and Slovak Telekom. He has also assisted clients in numerous cases before the EU courts, including in the seminal Huawei v. ZTE case. He has also been involved as counsel or expert witness in a number of major arbitration cases raising competition law and/or IP and/or EU law issues.
In addition, Damien currently a Professor of Competition Law & Economics at Tilburg University (the Netherlands). He is also a visiting Professor at University College London. Damien has also held visiting Professorships at major US universities, including Columbia, Harvard, Michigan and Yale.
Damien has authored/co-authored/edited over 20 books and 100 scientific papers in the field of competition law, IP law and the regulation of network industries. Recent books EU Competition Law & Economics (with Nicolas Petit and Anne Layne-Farrar) (Oxford University Press, 2012) and Global Antitrust Law & Economics (with Einer Elhauge) (Foundation Press, 2nd Ed. 2012).
Prof. Geradin is the co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Competition Law & Economics (published by OUP), a non-governmental advisor to the International Competition Network (ICN), and a member of the International Task Force of the ABA's Section of Antitrust.
He is a graduate of the University of Liège, King's College London (LL.M.) and Cambridge University (PhD). He was also a Fulbright scholar at Yale Law School.
Damien is fluent in English, French and a passive knowledge of Dutch and Spanish.
