Campbell Herbert is a senior associate in Freshfields' International Arbitration Group based in New York. His practice covers commercial and investment treaty arbitrations, as well as disputes before national courts. His representations include sovereign states and state-owned entities, and multi-national companies spanning a broad range of industry sectors.
Campbell is a solicitor advocate (civil) of the senior courts of England and Wales, and is admitted to practice in New York, New Zealand, New South Wales and the Cayman Islands.
He holds an LL.B. (Hons (First Class)) and B Com (Economics) from Victoria University of Wellington, and an LL.M. (Hons (First Class)) in international arbitration from the University of Auckland. He is a PhD candidate in investment treaty arbitration at the Grotius Centre at Leiden University, and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He serves on the Editorial Board of the International Arbitration Law Review, and is an Adjunct Professor at the City University of Hong Kong School of Law.
Prior to joining Freshfields, Campbell practiced in the Cayman Islands, in the London office of another international law firm, and at a leading New Zealand law firm.
