Claudia Salgado Levy has an extensive experience in international arbitration. Between 2018 and 2023, she served as the National Director of International Litigation and Arbitration at the Office of the Attorney General of Ecuador overseeing the defense of Ecuador and its public entities in a variety of complex commercial and investment disputes. Her practice includes arbitration proceedings before ICSID, PCA, ICC, and ad hoc arbitrations carried out under the UNCITRAL arbitration rules.
She was a full-time lecturer at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, teaching courses on commercial and investment arbitration and international public law. Likewise, she directed the Master's Programme on International Litigation and Arbitration.
During her time in Switzerland, she acted as a Legal Expert at UNCTAD, conducting research, drafting reports on international investment treaties, and organizing training courses on investment treaties in countries like Colombia, Ethiopia, and Ecuador.
She has represented Ecuador in international investment treaty negotiations (2005-2009) and served as delegate at the UNCITRAL Working Group III on Investor-State arbitration reform (2018 - 2023).
She holds a Ph.D. in International Law from The Graduate Institute in Geneva, Switzerland, and has three Master's degrees from Notre Dame University, Geneva University (the MIDS), and Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar.
