Hosna Sheikhattar
Profile
Hosna Sheikhattar is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Private Law, Leiden University, The Netherlands. Her research focuses on the impact of economic sanctions on international commercial arbitration. She is a qualified lawyer in Iran. Hosna obtained her Bachelor's degree in law from Shahid Beheshti University of Tehran, followed by a Master's degree in International Dispute Settlement from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. She then completed her LLM in Advanced Studies in International Civil & Commercial Law at Leiden University in 2017 (cum laude).
She has been a visiting fellow at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law and the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law. Hosna completed internships at the United Nations Compensation Commission (Geneva) and the law firm NautaDutilh (Amsterdam). Additionally, she undertook a fellowship at the Permanent Court of Arbitration (The Hague) and worked for three years as an arbitrator's assistant at the Iran-US Claims Tribunal (The Hague).
Her main areas of expertise are international arbitration, private international law, and international commercial law.
