Charles Zimmermann is a Senior Consultant at Nexant, and an energy economist with 35 years of experience. Over the past ten years the main focus of his work has been transmission pricing and markets for transmission capacity rights; international trade in electricity; tariff methodologies and tariff calculations, including assistance to energy regulatory authorities; power sector regulation and restructuring; and integration of electricity generation from renewable energy sources, including market design and pricing issues. Dr. Zimmermann has a Ph.D. from Cornell University, 1978, in Applied Economics and has worked in over 40 countries. With regard to international electricity trade and power sector regulation, he has worked in several central and eastern European countries including Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Bulgaria, and Albania, as well as Moldova, Ukraine, Russian Federation, Georgia and all of the Central Asian countries. He has worked on gas sector regulation in Romania, and managed electricity tariff studies in Croatia, Albania, Georgia, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, and Macau (China). He has been a guest speaker at ERRA conferences, on topics related to regional electricity trade.
