Vivienne Bath

Ms. Vivienne Bath is Senior Lecturer and Director of the Centre for Asian and Pacific Law and specialises in Chinese law, with a particular focus on foreign investment law, and international business law. Prior to joining the Faculty of Law in 2005, Vivienne was a partner in international firm Coudert Brothers, and worked for 20 years in the field of commercial law, primarily in the areas of foreign investment and commercial law (focussing on joint ventures, private equity finance and mergers and acquisitions), in Asia, particularly China.
She teaches subjects in the areas of International Business Law, Doing Business in China and Chinese Legal Systems. She has also published widely in the area of Chinese law. Vivienne holds the degrees of Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) (first class honours) and Bachelor of Laws (first class honours) from the Australian National University and a a Master of Laws from Harvard University. She speaks Chinese (Mandarin) and German.
Ms Bath is also a member of the ILA Committee on the International Law of Foreign Investment.
