As an academic and practitioner with a career spanning more than thirty years, Gomez-Palacio has published several books and articles in the field of foreign investment, international investment law, exchange controls, electoral law and legal education; served for a decade as Senior Consultant for the UN Center on Transnational Corporation (currently UNCTAD); and has taught International Business Transactions, International Commercial Arbitration, Comparative and Latin American Law and International Law on Foreign Investment, as law professor at the National University of Mexico, Iberoamericana and Universities of California at Davis, Florida, Hong Kong, Beijing, New Mexico, Baja California Norte and others.

Former President of the Instituto Mexicano para la Justicia (2001-04), founding partner of Gomez-Palacio y Asociados and active arbitrator (commercial and ICSID Investor- State arbitration). Outside counsel to Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Relations.
