Abstract

This article discusses how The United States Patent and Trademark Office ("USPTO") patent data might be used to identify and understand relevant trends occurring within patent classes relevant to participants in energy related industries. This study incorporate approximately 850,000 new patents awarded to more than 8,000 different patent assignees within chemical technology discipline classes and electrical technology discipline classes.
