Summary
Consolidation of arbitral proceedings is now an essential instrument to achieve international legal security in the field of the investment arbitration. This consolidation reduce and eliminate the problem of parallel arbitral proceedings and most importantly, the possibility of contradictory awards. This article explores the present and the future of this procedural institution in the investment treaties and the recent practice of the arbitral tribunals in the application of the NAFTA provisions on consolidation.
