Abstract

This contribution reviews international investment arbitrations filed against Latin American countries from 2006 to September 2009. Its purpose is twofold. First, it aims at showing that this type of arbitration continues to be very popular among foreign investors in Latin American countries, despite efforts of some governments to restrict this form of dispute resolution. Second, the article identifies certain trends in, and characteristics of, investment arbitration in the region.
