Abstract

In 2008, Brazil received most of the foreign direct investment (FDI) in South America, followed by Chile and Colombia. On the other hand, an increase in direct investment of Latin American countries in foreign countries has been evidenced. Trans-Latin corporations, i.e., new transnational companies in the region, are the main source for these investments. The leading position of Brazil to attract FDI must be taken into consideration.
