Introduction

Colombia plays an important role in the economy of Latin America, especially as its international ties continue to strengthen. In 2008, Colombia received US$ 10,564 million in foreign investment, compared with US$ 3,106 million in 2004 and US$ 8,154 million in 2006.[1] As well, Colombia's exports for 2009 reached 37,600 million dollars.
