Abstract

On July 9, 2009, Ecuador's government notified to the World Bank its denunciation of the 'Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States'. According to the decree issued by the President of Ecuador, the ICSID Convention contradicts the Constitución Política de la República del Ecuador promulgated on October 20, 2008 as it forbids an entry into international treaties by which the state is obligated to cede its sovereign jurisdiction to instances of international arbitration.
