Introduction

In November 2012, during its 146 th Period of Sessions, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights created a thematic Unit on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. The Unit's mandate is, among other things, "to cooperate with the analysis and evaluation of the situation of these rights in the Americas, provide advice to the IACHR in the proceedings of individual petitions, cases and requests of precautionary and provisional measures which address these rights."
