Abstract

The legal market is changing and the forces behind these changes have been building for some time. The changes are affecting all areas of the law, and dispute resolution is no exception. Legal practitioners and institutions need to be aware of what is going on and act accordingly. If they do not, they risk becoming superfluous. This article summarizes the SCC institute's observations on the recent changes in the legal market, the new role of the general counsel and how these factors together are affecting dispute resolution practitioners and institutions.
