Introduction
The role played by the New York Convention (the "NYC" or the "Convention") in the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of expectations and challenges: Expectations created by the timely adherence of the UAE to the NYC in 2006 and challenges raised by the UAE's belated compliance with the terms of the NYC despite its early adoption.
