Introduction

On 1st August 2015, a unified Civil and Commercial Code entered into force in Argentina (the "2015 Code"), covering all of its territory.

Interestingly, the Code contains a section devoted to the "arbitration contract." It is one of the specific contracts which are regulated under the Code.

Before analysing the provisions contained in the 2015 Code, a brief historical background of arbitration in Argentina will be provided (Section I). This article will then focus on the most salient provisions of the new arbitral legislation (Section II).
