Introduction

As part of the recent movement in international law scholarship poignantly dubbed 'turn to history', legal scholars have slowly begun to take interest in the history of international investment law. This interest is well illustrated by several recent studies, but the book at hand is the latest and arguably the most powerful example of such studies. Each author carefully employs historical research in his or her own contribution. As a result, the book as a whole makes a case for further development of international legal historiography in international economic law.
