Abstract

Egypt has adopted a number of laws regulating private sector participation in public services and public utilities projects, which extends to cover foreign investment in extractive sector. These laws are co-existent and are not substitutes to each other. Therefore, investors have to study carefully the law applicable to their contract taking into consideration that the public private partnership projects have a narrower definition under Egyptian law than that of the EU or the World Bank.
