Introduction
Further to the letter of 16 July 2001 (Second Chamber Documents II, 2000-2001, 21563, No. 11) on the Common Area, reporting on the dispute on this issue between the State, NAM, Shell and ExxonMobil, which went to arbitration, I am writing to advise you of the following. The arbitration case concerned the State's share of the sum of DEM 4.6 billion (EUR 2.35 billion) that NAM received at the time from Brigitta for the excess gas previously received by Brigitta.
