On May 20, 2005, in the first ever consolidation proceedings under the North American Free Trade Agreement ("NAFTA"), a Consolidation Tribunal ("Tribunal") denied Mexico's request to merge two ongoing NAFTA Chapter 11 investment arbitrations with three US-based agricultural companies into one consolidated arbitral proceeding.
