Introduction

The Petrobart vs. Kyrgyzstan case was the second arbitration conducted throughout until final award involving the Energy Charter Treaty ("the ECT"). The case was administered by the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, which institute also administered the very first arbitration under the ECT - the Nykomb vs. Latvia case - decided in 2003.
