Introduction

UNCTAD released its second IIA Monitor for the year 2006 focusing on developments in international investment agreements (IIAs) for the year 2005. It highlights the continued proliferation of bilateral investment treaties, double taxation treaties and preferential trade agreements with investment provisions, as well as recent developments in investor-State dispute settlement, providing a comprehensive and updated picture of the current universe of IIAs.
