It is fitting that as we are memorializing our colleague and mentor, Arthur von Mehren, we also look at Arthur's final "legacy," the recently completed Hague Choice of Court Convention.[1] The Convention bears not only Arthur's actual signature but also the years of his accumulated wisdom which helped to shape the final text.[2] The prior negotiations at the Hague Conference on a convention covering jurisdiction and judgments more generally were due in no small part to Arthur's efforts, and it was from this larger project that the new Choice of Court Convention was recast.[3] ...
