Executive Summary

Young-OGEMID organized its twentieth (20th) virtual symposium, "PhDs: A Cross-Jurisdictional Conversation" ("Symposium") from April 23 to 30, 2025. This symposium focused on the doctoral journey in law, from identifying a research topic to the necessary preparation for undertaking a doctorate.

The Symposium examined the doctoral journey in law by combining the knowledge, expertise, and experience of leading academics from different jurisdictions around the world. It also aimed to help participants understand the challenges and opportunities presented by a doctorate in law, and to provide them with practical advice for successfully navigating this demanding academic journey.

The distinguished panelists addressed a wide range of topics, from identifying a viable research topic to preserving mental and physical health during the doctorate.
