Summary
The Claimant (Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited) brought an action against the United Republic of Tanzania pursuant to the Implementation Agreement between the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and Independent Power Tanzania Limited. The Claimant alleged that the Respondent breached Articles 15 and 16 of the Implementation Agreements and, as a result, claimed that it was entitled to terminate the Implementation Agreement. The Tribunal found that Claimant was entitled to compensation pursuant to termination under the Implementation Agreement and awarded damages for the breaches of the Implementation Agreement carried out by Respondent.
