Summary

The dispute before me requires consideration of two principal questions. The first is whether the arbitrator retained jurisdiction to deliver the award more than 30 days after the finalisation of the matter without an extension. The second is whether, in making the award, the arbitrator determined a dispute that did not arise from the pleadings and the arbitration agreement, thereby exceeding his powers or committing a gross irregularity as contemplated in section 33 of the Act.
