Nominations welcomed for Special 10th Birthday OGEMID Awards - Closing date is 10 January 2013
13 December 2012
As part of our celebration of OGEMID's 10th birthday, the OGEMID Awards this year feature a new set of categories. Closing date is 10 January 2013. No block voting please.
The categories are as follows:
- THE RISING STARS AWARD. This Award wishes to recognise initiatives aimed at encouraging or mentoring the next generation of academics / practitioners in international arbitration. We thought of nominations of mooting events; initiatives in universities; student initiatives; young practitioners' associations / events; mentoring programmes in law firms or arbitral institutions or elsewhere;
- THE DIVERSITY AWARD. OGEMID founder Professor Thomas W. Wälde believed in chipping away at the perception of international arbitration as a privileged, Western club. Diversity is understood here in its widest acception - another term (neologism?) to convey the same idea would be 'inclusiveness'. Again no area is off limits: it may be that some law firms or arbitral bodies have relevant programmes, or other professional or pro bono associations, or educational bodies;
- THE CREATIVITY AWARD. In the sense of 'thinking outside the box'. Any notable publications, awards, media, speeches? Or creation of associations?
- THE TRADITIONAL AWARD. The most influential international arbitration case of the past ten years, whether or not it resulted in an Award.
Please send nominations by email to any member of the Awards committee. Closing date is 10 January 2013. No block voting please.
