Baurzhan Kurmanov worked at the General Prosecutor's office of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the position of the Senior Public Prosecutor of the Department. He is a recipient of the Bolashak international scholarship.

He obtained LLB (Hons) from Kazakh University of Humanities and Law. Currently, he is pursuing Master of Public and International Law at the University of Melbourne. Areas of his interest are Oil and Gas Law and Investment Law.
