Senior Associate
Azwi is a trade and investment law and policy advisor. His expertise lies in the fields of international economic law with a focus on the regulation of foreign investment. He researches trade diplomacy and the economic aspects of international trade and investment and has done extensive research on South Africa's foreign direct investment regulatory regime.
He is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Economic Diplomacy Program of the South African Institute of International Affairs and a Fellow of the Mandela Institute for International Economic Law at the University of the Witwatersrand's School of Law. In addition he is a Faculty Member of the London based African International Legal Awareness.
Until recently, Azwi served as an Economic Advisor at the Swiss embassy in South Africa. He holds a Master of International Law and Economics (cum laude) from the World Trade Institute in Bern and a Master of Laws in Labour Studies from the University of KwaZulu Natal.
