Ramya Raman is a Legal Associate in the International Investment Agreements (IIA) Section of the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India (since August 2015).
Ramya works on all matters of International Investment Agreements/Bilateral Investment Treaties that the Government of India is involved in, primarily the negotiation of Bilateral Investment Treaties and Investment chapters of Free Trade Agreements, Investment Treaty arbitrations, and other policy issues related to international investment and trade.
Ramya is an India qualified lawyer with a keen interest in international investment and trade law, and investment treaty arbitration. She holds an LLM with distinction in Commercial and Corporate laws from Queen Mary, University of London where she undertook study of International Commercial arbitration, Bilateral Investment Treaties, International Trade and Investment Dispute Settlement.
Previously, Ramya worked in the private sector as Legal Executive in Wipro Limited, Bangalore. She received her LLB with first class from University of Bangalore, India where she was awarded a Gold medal in Jurisprudence.
