Counsellor at the Egyptian Judiciary. Amr Arafa F. Hasaan is a highly accomplished legal professional with over 20 years of expertise in international arbitration, corporate law, and in-house counsel roles. He has an extensive track record in high-stakes litigation, complex contract negotiation, and corporate compliance, ensuring legal and strategic alignment with organisational goals.

As a Counsellor at the Egyptian State Lawsuits Authority (ESLA), the entity entitled to represent Egypt and its entities, in domestic and international disputes. He has represented Egypt in dozens of investment disputes before ICSID, PCA, and the Arab Investment Court, in diverse industries. Hasaan represented Egypt once before the International Court of Justice. He is a member of international fund and cooperation agreements under the umbrella of the Foreign Ministry in Egypt. He was a member of the task force for drafting a model bilateral investment treaty, which materialized in the 2022 Egypt Model BIT.

Hasaan was a member of the team representing Egypt in the UNCITRAL Working Group III for the investor-state Dispute Settlement Reform.

In parallel, Hasaan represented official entities in tens of complex commercial arbitrations before CRCICA, ICC, and PCA, in diverse business sectors.

Hasaan holds an LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS) from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies & University of Geneva, alongside a postgraduate diploma in intellectual property and an LL.B. in Law from Cairo University.
