Profile

Stephan Schill is Professor for International and Economic Law and Governance at the University of Amsterdam, Principal Investigator of the ERC-project on "Transnational Public-Private Arbitration as Global Regulatory Governance", and Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of World Investment and Trade.

Prof. Schill holds a doctorate in law from Frankfurt University and an LL.M. from New York University. He is admitted to the bar in Germany and New York, is a Member of the List of Conciliators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (appointed by Germany) and has acted as counsel before the European Court of Human Rights. His expertise covers general international law and international dispute settlement, international investment law and arbitration, EU law, the European Convention on Human Rights, and comparative public law.

He has published numerous articles and several books on international investment law, including The Multilateralization of International Investment Law (Cambridge University Press, 2009) and International Investment Law and Comparative Public Law (Oxford University Press, 2010).
