Michael Hwang practices as an independent barrister and arbitrator in Singapore and London. Among his numerous accolades, Michael Hwang has been named as one of the top 39 commercial arbitration practitioners in the world by "The Best of the Best 2011". Chambers Asia Pacific 2012 lists him as one of three “Star Individuals” in the International Section of “Most in Demand Arbitrators” and describes him as “undoubtedly a star and in the A-League for arbitrators.” Michael is on the panels of the PCA, ICSID and more than 20 national arbitration centres. He is also a member of the ICC Court and has been appointed the Chief Justice of the Dubai International Financial Centre. Michael served as a Judicial Commissioner (Contract High Court Judge) of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1991-1992 and was a UN Compensation Commissioner in Geneva from 2001-2003.
