Abstract
[Addendum 20/02/2020] Since the second half of the twentieth century onwards, bilateral investment treaties (BITs) have been primary instruments for regulating investment. Yet, there is a rapidly rising trend of incorporation of investment measures within the regional trade agreements (RTAs). The scope of inclusion of investment provisions differ from one RTA to another. While some of them cover comprehensive and detailed investment chapters, others tend to incorporate a few provisions on issues such as cooperation and exchange of information. This chapter provides an overview from the investment policy perspective of the main RTAs in the Eurasia region: the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the EU Association Agreements (AAs) with Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine. In this context, this chapter compares the investment provisions of these RTAs and provides analysis of the development of investment policy in the region.
