International Arbitration and International Commercial Courts: Competitive or Complementary? (21 - 30 March 2022)

The world has recently seen the rapid development of "international commercial courts," meaning subject-specific courts embedded within national judiciaries. Although the term suggests a high degree of similarity between the different courts, each nation has adopted its own unique format. This virtual symposium will discuss the different attributes of some of the most important new courts and will compare those courts with more established dispute resolution mechanisms, including but not limited to international commercial arbitration. In so doing, panellists go beyond mere nuts-and-bolts descriptions to discuss deeper issues associated with these new courts.
